MALATYA (AA) – Turkish Red Crescent President Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz said, “The TÜRKÖK Project has been progressing extremely successfully since 2014, in a way that every leukemia patient can find a donor directly from the bank.” he said. Yılmaz, who attended the opening of the “Oktay Kaynarca Blood Collection Unit” in front of MalatyaPark AVM with the artist Oktay Kaynarca, said in his speech that the Turkish Red Crescent serves as a bridge of kindness in different areas.
Expressing that they have undertaken an important task, Yılmaz said: “Life means blood, life means life. It is an extremely important, critical task. It has been 20 years since our country’s national blood supply started. Before, it was carried out in hospitals. Of course, there are many people to thank here, our donors are the first of them. Our Red Crescent members, who have established this system for 20 years, are important.
Our blood ambassadors are extremely important for us to convey our messages. “We came together with a blood ambassador and Oktay Kaynarca, who helped us launch a new blood campaign 2 months ago with the video ‘You Are My Hero’, to come together and give a message again, keeping his name alive in one of our blood donation centers.” Stating that the TÜRKÖK Project, which they added to the Turkish Red Crescent’s National Blood Supply Project, is important in finding stem cell donors, Yılmaz continued: “When a stem cell is to be made, finding that stem cell data determines the difference between living and not living.

These proteins, which are in the liquid part we call plasma, are extremely expensive drugs and their transportation is extremely critical. “When we produce these drugs from the plasma of Turkish people, they will become medically useful drugs for cancer patients, those with immune deficiencies, as there are people with closer genetic profiles than the plasma of Turks.” Artist Oktay Kaynarca said that he was happy to have such a unit named after him.
Thanking the Turkish Red Crescent, Kaynarca said: “I never imagined that I could make this speech on my father’s land. I never dreamed of something like this, it’s an honor for me. We did not know the Turkish Red Crescent so comprehensively. They were doing very important work and had great horizons, which made me very proud to have our Turkish Red Crescent. As a whole country, we must say, ‘Red Crescent means me.’ God forbid, it is one of the places we can turn to and get free help if anything happens.
