One AKSUNGUR unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), T-129 ATAK attack helicopter and T-70 general purpose helicopter, produced with domestic resources, were delivered to the General Directorate of Security (EGM) Aviation Department. Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün and TAI General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu attended the delivery ceremony held at the Kahramankazan campus of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
In his speech at the ceremony, Görgün said that right after the Police Week, Turkish engineers came together to deliver the unique products and valuable platforms of the Turkish mind, Turkish technical ability and sacrifice to the security forces. Stating that they carry out many long-term and valuable projects together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the General Command of Gendarmerie, the Coast Guard Command, and the General Directorate of Security, Görgün continued as follows: “We are in mutual effort to deliver the needed technologies in the best, fastest and cheapest way, with the work carried out under the coordination of our Presidency of Defense Industries.
“We continue to work on the development of all kinds of domestic and national systems such as ATAK helicopters, T-70 helicopters, which are to be delivered today, as well as our GÖKBEY helicopters, AKINCI for our Gendarmerie General Command, AKSUNGUR and ANKA projects for the General Directorate of Security and our Gendarmerie, and land vehicles, weapons projects, ammunition projects, ship projects.” Stating that a great deal of effort went into the resulting works, Görgün said: “Especially when we hold meetings with international counterparts, we proudly express that the delivered products are not only contributed by the technical staff and engineers working on these works, but also by our security forces working in the field.
“If there is a helicopter, an unmanned aerial vehicle, a platform, the field experiences and needs of the forces of our Ministry of National Defense, the gendarmerie of our Ministry of Internal Affairs, the police, and the coast guard are reflected in the products.” In his speech, Görgün also commemorated those who were martyred in the terrorist attack on TAI’s Kahramankazan campus. The localization rate and air power will increase.
TAI General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu also pointed out that they delivered 3 different platforms at the ceremony. Demiroğlu said, “The delivery we made today is actually one of the deliveries of which we want to make hundreds and thousands of deliveries. The stronger our Turkey is in the region we are in, the safer we and our children will be.” he said. Emphasizing that they, as TAI, are working to fulfill all their responsibilities in this field, Demiroğlu said, “We continue to develop the technologies we need in the defense of our country.
We will continue to develop each platform and technology we need with the support of our defense industry institutions and our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who stands firmly behind us without compromising any of our needs.” he said. The General Directorate of Security will increase its capacity in security operations with AKSUNGUR, which it will add to its inventory. With AKSUNGUR, which can stay in the air for 48 hours and communicate via national satellites, the number of advanced UAVs within the EGM will reach 30.
With ATAK and T-70 helicopters, the localization rate in the organization’s helicopter fleet will also increase. With the new vehicles added to the previously received ATAK and T-70 helicopters, the air force of the General Directorate of Security will increase. Source: AA
