KASTAMONU (AA) – BİLAL KAHYAOĞLU – Kadıdağı Boxing Camp Training Center, where Olympic medalist boxers are trained in Kastamonu, started to serve with its renewed face. Work was initiated by the Turkish Boxing Federation due to lack of capacity at the Kadıdağı Boxing Camp Training Center, which has been serving Turkish boxing since 2012. After approximately 7 months of work, the boxing hall in the facility was expanded and a new fitness area was established.

New rings were also created in the facility, where all sports equipment was renewed. It is aimed for more boxers to achieve success in the world arena with the arrangements made at the boxing center where Olympic champion Busenaz Sürmeneli, 2-time Olympic runner-up Buse Naz Çakıroğlu, Olympic third runner-up Esra Yıldız Kahraman and world and European champions trained. Turkish Boxing Federation President Suat Hekimoğlu told the AA correspondent that they want to develop Turkish boxing and leave lasting works.

Stating that they have completed a study for this, Hekimoğlu said, “It was a great hall. We thank our Minister of Youth and Sports and our Deputy Minister Hamza Yerlikaya. When we first came here, it was bad. Now everything has been renewed, including the place where the bags will be beaten, the rings and the fitness room. Approximately 15 million lira was spent.” he said. Expressing that they are happy to increase the working opportunities of boxers, Suat Hekimoğlu explained that double and triple camps can be easily organized with the arrangements made.

Explaining that a camp will be held with Russia, Italy and other countries in the camp center in the near future, Hekimoğlu said, “We are in talks with our Ministry. We are thinking of building another building. Hopefully, we will add it to the fixtures of our federation within a year. “We will make Turkey love the sport of boxing, not only in terms of the gym, but also with both our success and what we do.” he said.

Emphasizing that he believes that success will increase with the investments made, Hekimoğlu said, “Children work more enthusiastically here. It was a very beautiful, clean, sparkling place. “Many Olympic medalist athletes will come out of here.” he said. – “There are very few teams in the world that camp like us.” Women’s Boxing National Team Coach Nazım Yiğit pointed out that the demands of countries for joint camps have increased with the renovation of the boxing hall.

Underlining that the arrangements made in the hall motivated the athletes, Yiğit said, “This makes us proud. There are very few teams in the world that camp in camping areas like ours, with our resources. This is a good thing for us. We are preparing for the Olympics here. Therefore, it is a very right and appropriate decision to make this investment here. We also presented our experiences and ideas as much as we could.” he said.

– “They made a big investment here for us.” National boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli stated that he liked the new state of the camp center very much and said, “As success comes, the opportunities also increase. The team is doing really well. We love this place. I have been coming here since 2012. Our working environment is also nice. The hall is very nice. They made a big investment here for us. I hope we will not bow their heads to them.” He commented: National boxer Büşra Işıldar stated that she worked in the old hall for many years and thanked the Turkish Boxing Federation and the coaches for their efforts and the opportunities they provided.
