The Levi region, located above the polar circle of the country, is known as one of the most important ski resorts. In the summer, this region experiences midnight sun, and at certain periods, sunlight is visible throughout the day. Authorities stated that although the region is known primarily for its winter months, northern summer is still not well known by many people. Officials who made a statement on the subject said: “We aim to offer tourists a new reason to visit the region in this period when the sun never sets and the landscape takes on a completely different face.” VARIOUS EVENTS ARE HELD It was stated that in addition to winter tourism, activities such as paragliding, hiking, rafting and mountain biking can also be done in this region.

The 23 thousand dollar gold bar hunt is carried out in cooperation with Kittila-based gold mining company Agnico Eagle Finland and Levi Ski Resort. Authorities emphasized that tourists should act with awareness of their responsibilities, stay in permitted areas and respect ecological balance. It was also stated that no excavation should be carried out and the land should not be destroyed in order to find gold bullion.
