ASTANA (AA) – 5 memorandums of understanding were signed between Kazakhstan and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCASC) covering the fields of digitalization, information and communication technologies, cyber security, space activities, culture, education, science, sports and investment. The leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, Nikos Hristodulidis, who is in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, had a one-on-one meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Kasım Cömert Tokayev.
After the meetings between the delegations, Tokayev presented the Order of Friendship to the Greek Cypriot leader. Tokayev argued that the visit was a “historical turning point” for bilateral relations. In his speech at the press conference, Tokayev described the Greek Cypriot Administration as “one of Kazakhstan’s reliable and important partners in Europe.” he said. Tokayev stated that logistics, finance, tourism and digital technologies will be the priority areas of cooperation between the parties in the coming period and said, “There are important opportunities to effectively integrate the land transportation infrastructure of Kazakhstan and the maritime infrastructure of Cyprus within the scope of the Central Corridor.
This step will create a new and versatile logistics system between Central Asia, the Caspian region and the Mediterranean.” he said. Greek Cypriot leader Christodulidis also said that the signed memorandum of understanding will strengthen cooperation in areas such as higher education, scientific research, culture, sports, innovation and digital management. Following the meetings, the parties signed 5 cooperation documents covering the fields of digitalization, information and communication technologies, cyber security, space activities, culture, education, science, sports and investment.
