Kyrgyz Parliament Deputy Dastanbek Cumabekov, Turkey’s Ambassador to Bishkek Mekin Mustafa Kemal Ökem, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Bishkek Latif Gandilov, Kyrgyzstan First Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy Soyuzbek Nadırbekov, Ministry of Culture and Tourism Director General of Cinema Birol Güven, attended the opening of the “10th Turkish Films Week” event under the coordination of the Turkey-based Indigenous Thought Association.

TRNC’s Bishkek Representative Tahir Osman Tahir, Kyrgyzstan-Türkiye Manas University Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Kyrgyz People’s Assembly President Rahman Meder, Native Thought Association President Metin Gündoğdu, Kyrgyzstan Cinematography General Manager Talantbek Tolobekov, “KyrgyzFilm” National Film Studios Manager Maksat Jumayev and Deputy Director Aida Usonova, Meskhetian Turks, officials of Turkey’s institutions in Bishkek and moviegoers attended.

Turkish film actors walked on the red carpet at the red carpet ceremony held at the event held at the Ala-Too Cinema in the city center and hosted by Bülent Namal and Jazgül Salidinova. Directors Yüksel Aksu, Murat Çeri, Ahmet Edebali, Murat Emre Kaman, actors Deniz Barut Aksu and İbrahim Büyükak, TRT Cinema Manager Faruk Güven and Cinema Department Head Çiğdem Aksoy attended the event. – “Cinema is a special art that brings our people closer together.” In his speech at the opening, First Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Nadirbekov said, “Today’s event is a vivid manifestation of friendship, mutual trust and creative cooperation between the cinematographers of the two countries.

Stating that the history of Kyrgyz-Turkish film relations dates back almost half a century, Nadırbekov emphasized that the beginning of this process was shaped by the interest of Turkish filmmakers in the works of the great writer Cengiz Aytmatov. Referring to the role of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University operating in Bishkek in the cinema industry, Nadırbekov said, “KTMU makes a tremendous contribution to the development of both Kyrgyzstan and Turkey’s film industry with the talented directors, cameramen, producers and actors it has trained for many years.” he said.

– We attach importance to culture and brotherhood in Kyrgyzstan.” Turkey’s Ambassador to Bishkek Ökem also stated that they, as Turkey, attach great importance to strengthening cultural and brotherhood ties. Saying “Welcome” to the famous actors İbrahim Büyükak and Deniz Barut Aksu, Ökem thanked all the institutions that contributed to the organization. Emphasizing that cultural projects bring the people of the two countries closer to each other, Ökem shared a memory from the past years that touches the history of Kyrgyz cinema.

Stating that it is a great success to continue an international organization uninterrupted for 10 years, Güven said, “This beautiful event has reached a whole new level, especially in the last two years, with the involvement of both states and the support of our ministries.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed, especially our Deputy Metin Gündoğdu, for their support.” he said. Stating that both Kyrgyzstan and Turkey have a deep-rooted cinema culture dating back over 100 years, Güven said, “Both countries are literally cinema countries. We have common troubles and common stories. Hopefully, we will come together more often in the future to tell these common issues in cinema. I sincerely hope to see Kyrgyz-Turkish co-production films on the big screen in the future.” he said.

Turkish films called “Are We Happy?”, “Kanto”, “The Secret of Ephesus”, “Creating a Man” and “Look, the Postman is Coming” will be presented to the audience free of charge at the screenings at Ala-Too Cinema on June 3-7.
