SİİRT (AA) – Women and Democracy Foundation (KADEM) Siirt Provincial Representation was opened with a ceremony attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Canan Sarı. Speaking at the opening of the representative building on Kurtalan Street in the Cooperative District, Canan Sarı said that they were happy to open the 58th provincial representative office of the foundation. “As KADEM, we are working to build a society where women can live safely and honorably without being subjected to violence or injustice.” Sarı said: “While doing this, we organize campaigns against violence, especially with public service announcements.
We are aware that there is a significant awareness about violence against women in our society. When we look at the practices and evaluate applications such as KADES, we see that there is now a significant awareness on this issue.” Sarı stated that they are excited to carry out future studies with women from Siirt and continued: “We contribute to the construction of a society of trust in the field with training activities.
We provide information about the psychological, legal and religious dimensions of violence through training on the anatomy of violence.” We also carry out activities to contribute to women’s literature with our academic studies. We support our work academically with international summits, panels and conferences. In addition, our international work is also very valuable to us. “We carry out our activities every year on March 8, especially at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, and we strive to make the voice of Turkish women and Muslim Turkish women heard internationally.” After the speech, the representative office was opened with a ribbon cutting.
The ceremony was attended by Siirt Governor Kemal Kızılkaya, Siirt University Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak and KADEM members attended.
