WhatsApp is working on a new Contacts section that will allow users to see which of their contacts are online on a single screen. The feature, which appeared in the WhatsApp beta 26.20.10.70 version published for iPhone, will list your favorite contacts, those who are currently online and those who seem to have been active recently in the same center. A new era for online contacts in WhatsApp. To see whether a person is online in WhatsApp, the relevant chat must be opened at the moment.
When the user enters the chat window, if the person is active, their online information appears at the top of the screen. If the person is inactive and privacy settings allow it, last seen information is displayed on the screen. The new interface will allow you to check this information without opening the chats one by one. The new Contacts center, revealed by WABetaInfo, is prepared as a separate section accessed through WhatsApp settings.
It is stated that the section is located just below the profile photo in the application settings. Here, users will be able to quickly access their favorite contacts, see the people who are online, and review the recently active contacts in order. Favorite contacts will be located at the top of the new interface. WhatsApp will show up to four favorite contacts in this area. Under the favorites, people who are online and recently active will be listed.
A green dot will appear on the profile photo of people who are currently online. Contacts who are offline but have recently appeared active will be displayed in chronological order. The contacts center will not only show their online status. In this section, users will be able to find any person via the search bar, manually add their phone number to their WhatsApp contacts, or register a new contact by scanning the QR code.
Favorite contacts can also be managed and updated from the same section. WhatsApp will also offer a sorting option in this new section. The contact list can be viewed by online status or sorted by name. It will be possible to convert the contact list to a classical alphabetical structure, especially for users who hide their last seen and online information. The current privacy rules are preserved in the working structure of the new feature.
WhatsApp will not show people who have hidden their online and last seen information in this section. Likewise, if the user does not share his own online information, he will not be able to see other people’s online status. Existing WhatsApp privacy settings will also apply to the new Contacts center. The feature is currently under development on the iOS side. WABetaInfo states that the new section has not even been opened to beta testers yet.
WhatsApp will first offer the feature to some beta users after the development process is completed. There is no clear calendar shared for the public release date. This feature has also appeared on the Android side before. At the end of March, it was seen that a similar structure was being worked on in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.13.3. With the latest iOS beta findings, it has been revealed that the same online contacts center is also prepared for iPhone users.
