While discussions on the future of the alimony system continue, it was stated that government officials are working on a new model. LOWER AND UPPER LIMITS WILL BE DETERMINED According to the news of Haberler.com, in the new regulation, it is planned to determine the lower and upper limits for the alimony period.
It was learned that in determining the upper limit, the economic and social conditions of the party suffering from the divorce will be taken into account and the final decision will be made by the judge. In this context, a one-time alimony payment for short-term marriages stands out as one of the options on the table. Accordingly, it is stated that the amount of alimony will be determined in connection with the duration of the marriage and the determined amount can be paid to the other party all at once.
Thus, it is aimed to prevent lifelong alimony payments after short-term marriages. THOSE RECEIVING ALIMONY WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE ALMOST FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS. On the other hand, it is stated that the new legal regulation will also include a temporary article regarding the ongoing alimony payments. Accordingly, current alimony payments are expected to continue for another 2 years after the regulation becomes law. It is also stated that with the new system coming into force, the right of those currently receiving alimony to receive indefinite alimony will end.
