SAMSUN/KASTAMONU (AA) – A ceremony was held in Samsun and Kastamonu on the occasion of Penitentiary Personnel Day. After presenting a wreath to the Atatürk Monument by Samsun Probation Director Mehmet Ofluoğlu, a moment of silence was observed and the National Anthem was sung. Ofluoğlu said that penal institutions and probation offices undertake critical duties in the implementation of justice and preserving the peace of the society.
Stating that the burden of this duty is on the shoulders of the personnel who work day and night, despite difficult conditions, without compromising discipline, respect for human rights and laws, Ofluoğlu said, “This service, which is not visible and is often carried out with silent labor, requires patience, acumen, conscience, respect and commitment to the job. Our colleagues in penal institutions and probation departments carry out their duties with great devotion and discipline to rehabilitate convicts, detainees and criminals, reintegrate them into society and ensure public order.

Samsun T Type Open and Closed Penal Institution Director Mustafa Sönmez, Samsun T Type Open and Closed Penal Institution Second Director İbrahim Duru, Probation Deputy Director Canan Soğukpınar, Probation Directorate and Penal Institution experts and correctional officers attended the ceremony. – Kastamonu A program was organized within the scope of Penitentiary Personnel Day in Kastamonu. At the exhibition held in Republic Square, the products produced by convicts and detainees in the vocational training and handicraft courses they attended throughout the year were presented to the citizens.
The income generated from the products offered for sale at the exhibition will be given to the convicts and detainees who produce the products. Seher Aktaşgil, Director of Kastamonu E Type Closed and Open Penitentiary Institution, pointed out to the journalists the place of penal institutions in the justice system and said: Justice is the foundation of property. Penal institutions are one of the quietest but strongest pillars of these institutions.
