ELAZIĞ (AA) – 5 people were injured, one of them seriously, as a result of the excavation truck’s broken brakes hitting 10 vehicles in Elazığ. The brakes of the excavation truck with plate number 23 DV 770, whose driver’s identity has not yet been learned, burst at the Gülmez Hill location of Pertek Street. The truck, speeding along the street, crashed into the car with license plate 23 AEA 505, driven by Mustafa Çakar, who was learned to be the deputy chief physician at Elazığ Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital, on Yunus Emre Boulevard.

The truck, which then hit 3 cars traveling and 6 parked cars about 500 meters away, was able to stop near Izzetpaşa Mosque. In the accident, driver Çakar and 4 people were injured. Upon notice, 112 Emergency Health and police teams were dispatched to the region. The injured were taken to hospitals in the city by medical teams. It was learned that Çakar’s condition was serious. The truck driver was detained by police teams.

Provincial Police Chief Aydın Karan came to the scene and received information about the accident. Tradesman Öner Coşkun, who saw the moment of the accident, told reporters that he noticed the truck while sitting in front of his workplace. Coşkun stated that despite everything, the accident was managed cheaply and said, “He took away all the vehicles here.” A citizen’s seat belt was jammed in one of the vehicles he drove in front of.
