The rumors, leaks and behind-closed-door reports that have been going on for three years in the gaming world have finally come to fruition, and Ubisoft has unveiled the modern version of its legendary production, which is considered the peak of the piracy theme. This project, which excites fans of the series, promises to use all the possibilities of today’s technology to the fullest while preserving the original spirit of the series, under the name Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The production, which became official last month and was previously heard with PEGI leaks; It will be on the shelves on July 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms. A Legend Built from Scratch Resynced, which Ubisoft describes as a “faithful remake”, does not just put a makeover on the original 2013 pirate adventure. Built “completely from scratch” using the company’s latest Anvil Engine, the game offers a visually stunning atmosphere.
The high-resolution renderings, improved lighting and new dynamic weather system featured in the trailers bring the lively and sunny weather of the Caribbean to a realistic dimension. You can also watch the video on Youtube. During the launch, Ubisoft emphasized that this production was “not an RPG” and stated that the series remained true to its more traditional action-adventure roots. Focusing on the story of Edward Kenway, this single-player experience focuses on an immersive narrative and character depth, rather than the complex skill trees or level systems we often see in modern games.
Big Change in Gameplay and Mechanics Beyond visual improvements, radical changes in gameplay mechanics await players. Edward’s dual swords, pistols, and hidden blades now take on much more prominent roles during battle. The “completely overhauled” combat system allows for more dynamic and fluid combo chains. Especially thanks to the “perfect parry” mechanic, instantly neutralizing enemies or performing chain executions now offers a much more satisfying feeling.
Parkour and stealth systems have also been adapted to today’s standards. Inspired by improvements in modern games such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Valhalla, the movement system provides a more natural flow when gliding between buildings and trees. On the stealth side, players will now be able to lean wherever they want, thus interacting with the environment more flexibly. The most criticized “stalking and eavesdropping” missions of the original game have also been revised; Getting spotted will no longer directly result in desynchronization, instead targets will react and players will need to change strategy depending on the situation.
Ruler of the Seas: Jackdaw and the New Crew Sea battles, the heart of the piracy game, evolve to a new dimension with Resynced. Edward’s faithful ship, the Jackdaw, now responds more sensitively to environmental factors such as huge waves and storms encountered in open waters. New “secondary fire” modes added for ship ammunition increase strategic depth and make naval engagements more brutal. Resynced introduces three new officers that you can add to your crew: Lucy Baldwin, Padré, and Dead Man Smith.
Each of these characters have their own unique quest chains and powerful abilities that they will bring to Edward’s ship. For example, Dead Man Smith can unlock an ability that allows you to double-shot with broadside weapons. In addition, new narrative arcs about iconic characters such as Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet and new scenes with Edward’s wife Caroline are among the elements that enrich the story. Modern Day and Missing Content Although Ubisoft does not give away any secrets about the modern-day parts of the game, it has confirmed that the Animus passes in 2013 will be updated.
It is still a matter of curiosity how these episodes, in which new scenes focusing on “Edward’s inner struggles” will be added, will connect with the general story flow of the series. On the other hand, in order for the game to be a “pure story-oriented adventure”, story DLCs and multiplayer modes such as Freedom Cry, which were included in the original version, will not be included in the Resynced version. The game, which will be released on July 9, also has a huge “Collector’s Edition” version.
This special package; Includes collectible items such as an Edward Kenway figure, character diary, fabric map and a brooch. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is ready to set a new standard in the piracy genre by combining the classic legend with 2026 technology.
