ŞANLIURFA (AA) – Harran district of Şanlıurfa, one of the oldest settlements in the world, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List, is crowded due to the Eid al-Adha holiday. Harran, which has been an uninterrupted settlement since 6 thousand BC and was once the capital of the Assyrians and Umayyads, takes its visitors on a cultural journey with its conical-domed houses and historical places, as well as its people in local costumes.

The influx of visitors to the historical district, which hosts thousands of local and foreign tourists every year with the ruins of the first Islamic university and the Grand Mosque from the Umayyad period, reached its peak during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Many visitors came to the district taking advantage of the holiday, making both the people of Harran and the tourism professionals happy. Tourism manager Ömer Özyavuz, in his statement to the AA correspondent, said that there was a significant increase in the number of guests coming to Harran compared to the previous holidays.
