NİĞDE (AA) – Deputy Minister of National Education Ömer Faruk Yelkenci said, “We have created the Turkey Century Education Model on a ground that has strong ties with its roots, is aware of the opportunities of the age and can use them effectively, takes into account the conditions of the age, centers our national and spiritual values, and does not neglect human values and values of the whole world.” he said. Yelkenci said that in the “Teachers and Teacher Candidates Meet at the Heart of Education” program hosted by Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, very valuable work was carried out in all provinces for the “Türkiye Century Education Model”.

Pointing out that it is important for teacher candidates to get to know the Turkey Century Education Model through the workshops to be held today and tomorrow, Yelkenci said: “The Turkey Century Education Model has some features. The most important two of these are that it is a skill-based program. I express it as a skill weave because many skills are included in the program in relation to each other. The second is that it is a value-based program.

Considering these aspects, skills entered the quality framework of the Ministry of National Education for the first time in 2014. This is not a new agenda, it is an issue that we brought to the agenda when our Minister was undersecretary. “We have created the Turkey Century Education Model on a basis that has established strong ties with its roots, is aware of the opportunities of the age and can use them effectively, takes into account the conditions of the age, centers our national and spiritual values, and does not neglect human values and values of the whole world.” Yelkenci stated that the model has five components, which are the basic approach, student profile, virtue value action framework, skills framework and program structure.

Pointing out that the programs written within the scope of the model have different features, Yelkenci said, “They are original, flexible and 35 percent simplified. We can list these as the unique features of the Türkiye Century Education Model. When we started, we took this as a basis and said, ‘Why can’t we develop a curriculum specific to us, why is it always transferred from somewhere?’ When you transfer, you definitely carry something.

You also carry a culture and perspective. At this point, we tried to create a structure that is aware of the conditions that will keep its ties with its roots and use its opportunities.” he said. Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Rector Prof. Dr. Reminding that the Turkey Century Education Model was launched under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Hasan Uslu said, “Within the scope of this model, which brings a new vision to our national education, it is aimed to protect our national and moral values, to provide our students with the skills required by the age and to move to a holistic structure that educates character.” he said.

Provincial Director of National Education Elif Özbek thanked those who contributed and hoped that the program would add value to students and teachers. Protocol members, teachers and students attended the program.
