ERZURUM (AA) – “Zero Waste Festival” was organized in Erzurum within the scope of Environment Week activities in order to raise environmental awareness and spread the recycling culture. At the festival held by Yakutiye Municipality in front of the historical Yakutiye Madrasa, works designed by students from recycled materials were exhibited. In the program, children had the opportunity to practically experience the reuse processes of waste materials.

Participants were also informed about the protection of the environment and the efficient use of natural resources. In the Waste Oil Collection Campaign organized within the scope of the festival, citizens who brought 3 liters of waste oil were given 1 liter of oil as a gift. Yakutiye Mayor Mahmut Uçar, in his speech here, said that it is important to transfer environmental awareness to future generations. Stating that they are working to spread the concept of zero waste to all segments of society, Uçar said, “We attach great importance to our children’s awareness of the environment.
