The local government in the city of Lorca, in the Murcia region of the country, made a remarkable decision in order to prevent visual pollution and protect the aesthetics of the city. Within the scope of the regulation in question, it was forbidden to hang laundry on balconies in a way that would be visible from the street. In addition, keeping items such as mattresses, beds and gas cylinders on balconies is also prohibited, while the local government announced that the decision was implemented to protect the aesthetics of the city and prevent visual pollution.
FINE UP TO 1500 EURO According to the news in the local media, gradual fines will be imposed on those who do not comply with the regulation. It was stated that a fine of up to 750 euros would be imposed in cases such as hanging clothes on balcony railings and storing inappropriate items, while the fine could be up to 1500 euros for violations such as installing clothes hangers on main facades or keeping visible technical equipment.
Fulgencio Gil stated that the regulation in question was implemented in line with complaints from city residents. The Mayor said that their aim is to preserve the touristic appearance and aesthetic structure of the city.
