It was announced that explosives were found in two bags near the TurkStream natural gas pipeline in the Kanjiza region of Serbia. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in his statement to journalists, pointed out that the explosives found in two bags near the natural gas pipeline indicate a possible sabotage attempt. Vucic, who announced that the security forces launched a large-scale operation after the incident, also met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and gave information about the possibility of a possible gas cut.
Vucic stated that the incident was being investigated extensively. Hungarian Prime Minister Orban, in his statement on the social media platform of the US-based company X, stated that he spoke on the phone with Serbian President Vucic. Orban stated that Serbian authorities reported that they found explosive material and the equipment necessary to detonate it in the critical natural gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary.
Prime Minister Orban stated that he would convene the defense council urgently in the afternoon. Hungarian State Secretary for International Communications, Zoltan Kovacs, said in his statement on his account on X: “Explosive material was found close to the TurkStream pipeline.” In his statements on March 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine was damaging Europe with attacks on energy infrastructures and that he was planning to attack the TurkStream and Blue Stream natural gas pipelines in the Black Sea.
