Jose Mourinho complained about Turkey to the ECHR

He complained to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) about the disciplinary penalties received by Fenerbahçe's former coach Jose Mourinho in Turkey.

Fenerbahçe’s former coach Jose Mourinho applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the disciplinary penalties he received while he was working in Turkey. The ECHR processed the application and requested an official defense from Turkey. MOURINHO COMPLAINED FENERBAHÇE TO THE ECHR. The Portuguese coach took the penalties imposed by the Disciplinary Committee within the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to the judiciary during his tenure in the Super League.

Mourinho, who particularly objected to the “locker room ban” and fines he received after the Trabzonspor match in November 2024, took the file to the ECHR after the Arbitration Board approved the decision. In his application, Mourinho claimed that football disciplinary bodies in Turkey were not independent and that the sanctions violated freedom of expression. He also argued that his right to a fair trial was violated, stating that the reasoned decision was not notified to him on time.
