AMASYA (AA) – Damage occurred as a result of lightning hitting the roof of a 5-storey building in Amasya after a heavy rain.
After the heavy rain in the city, lightning struck the roof of a 5-storey building located in 55 Evler Mahallesi Mehmet Varilli Street.
The lightning struck the concrete block of the elevator tower on the roof, causing the concrete pieces to break off and spill out onto the front of the building and onto the street.
Upon notice, police, fire brigade and Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD) teams were dispatched to the scene.
Police teams closed the street where the apartment building is located to vehicles and pedestrians due to the risk of debris falling from the roof.
AFAD and fire teams also started damage assessment work in the building they inspected.
