Lockheed Martin will provide training systems and services for the E-130J Phoenix II within the scope of the program led by Northrop Grumman in support of the US Navy’s TACAMO (Take Charge and Move Out) mission. Based on the C-130J Super Hercules platform, the E-130J is designed to provide advanced airborne communications capability by maintaining connectivity between U.S. command authorities and strategic nuclear forces in the event of ground-based systems disruption.
Lockheed Martin will develop high-reality training systems that mimic avionics systems, communication infrastructure and mission scenarios that reflect the real operating environment. In this way, the aim is for the crew to make mission preparations before the aircraft enters service. These training solutions will support personnel in using advanced mission systems, including ultra-low frequency communications and integrated command-and-control capabilities.
Officials stated that the common architecture between the C-130J Super Hercules and E-130J Phoenix II platforms will accelerate the simulator development process and contribute to the harmonization of training activities with ongoing aircraft modernization studies.
