ATHENS (AA) – An event was held at Turkey’s Athens Embassy on the occasion of “National Family Week”. Embassy members and Turkish citizens living in Athens attended the event hosted by Turkey’s Ambassador to Athens, Çağatay Erciyes, with their family members. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Erciyes stated that they came together at this event on the occasion of the declaration of the 2026-2035 period as the “Decade of Family and Population” and the celebration of the last week of May every year as “National Family Week”.

In his speech, in which he emphasized the importance of the family, Erciyes also touched upon the effects of the internet and social media on the family structure, and pointed out that while digital technologies provide important opportunities in terms of education, communication and access to information, they can negatively affect the social development of children when used excessively and uncontrolled. For this reason, Ambassador Erciyes underlined the responsibility of families in their children’s use of social media.
