CD PROJEKT RED officially announced the new expansion pack Songs of the Past for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3, one of the most popular games of the series, will introduce Geralt of Rivia to the players again with the third expansion pack to be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2027.
Geralt of Rivia returns with Songs of the Past
According to the statement made by CD PROJEKT RED, Songs of the Past will be the third expansion pack prepared for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The new content will once again put players in the role of legendary monster hunter Geralt of Rivia and take them on an entirely new adventure.
The expansion pack will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms in 2027. CD PROJEKT RED has not yet shared a clear release date for Songs of the Past. The studio announced that more details about the expansion pack will be announced towards the end of summer 2026.
Fool’s Theory accompanies CD PROJEKT RED in the development process of Songs of the Past. The Fool’s Theory team also includes experienced names who have previously worked on The Witcher 3. For this reason, the new expansion pack is being prepared with the contribution of a team that knows the world and Geralt-centered narrative of the main game.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt became one of CD PROJEKT RED’s most successful productions after its release in 2015. The game has sold more than 60 million units to date. It has also won more than 250 Game of the Year awards and more than 1,000 industry awards.
The Witcher 3 transports players to its dark fantasy-themed open world. In the game, Geralt of Rivia faces one of the most important contracts of his life to save his daughter Ciri. Songs of the Past will add a new story to this universe in 2027.
CD PROJEKT RED has not yet provided additional information about the expansion pack’s story, gameplay details, new regions or content scope. In the announcement, only information was shared that it was the third expansion pack of the project, that it would bring back Geralt of Rivia, that it would be published in 2027, and that it was developed together with Fool’s Theory.
