Summary in 10 Seconds: Three new artificial intelligence tools called Extend, Enhance and Reframe are expected to be added to the Photos application with iOS 27. Extend will complement the areas of the photo that extend beyond the frame with artificial intelligence. Enhance will automatically improve color, lighting and image quality. Reframe, on the other hand, will focus on changing perspective after shooting in spatial photographs.
Apple is preparing to expand the artificial intelligence-supported editing side of the Photos application with iOS 27. In the new era, the focus will not only be on deleting unwanted objects; More advanced options such as expanding the frame, automatically improving the image, and changing perspective, especially in spatial photographs, are also on the agenda. These innovations have not yet been officially announced by Apple.
However, new tools prepared for iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 show that Apple Intelligence will move to a more central role in the Photos application. Apple is taking the Photos application further with artificial intelligence. Currently, the most visible tool in the Photos application on the Apple Intelligence side is Clean Up. This feature is used to delete distracting objects in the photo and is positioned by Apple among the artificial intelligence features in the Photos application.
This table may expand with iOS 27. It is expected that there will be a separate section for Apple Intelligence tools on the photo editing screen and Extend, Enhance and Reframe options will be offered here. Thus, Apple’s artificial intelligence approach can go beyond the level of simply deleting objects and turn into a more comprehensive structure that touches the framing, light, color and perspective of the photo. The frame can now expand after shooting.
Extend focuses on producing a new image area outside the original frame of the photo. When the user expands the edges of the photo while cropping, artificial intelligence will be able to complete the missing scene. This feature can be especially useful in photos that are framed incorrectly, taken too close up, or need to be adapted to different proportions for sharing. The critical point here will be whether the system will be able to produce new areas consistent with the scene in the photo.
Enhance may be a more classic but more practical tool. Enhance seems to be an option that will take the automatic editing logic that is already familiar in Apple’s Photos application further with artificial intelligence. This tool is expected to make automatic touches on color, light and overall image quality. The main difference in this section may be that the process becomes more contextual. So instead of just increasing the brightness or contrast, the system can make a more natural enhancement based on the scene in the photo.
However, it is not yet clear how far this level will go. Reframe opens a different door for spatial photographs. Reframe is the most different option among the three tools. It is stated that this tool was developed specifically for spatial photographs and will allow users to change the perspective after shooting. This is a slightly different area from classic photo editing. Because here it is not just about correcting the color or framing, but also rearranging the perspective of the photograph.
Considering Apple’s approach to Vision Pro and spatial content, it’s possible that Reframe could make long-term sense not just for the Photos app on the iPhone, but for the broader ecosystem as well. However, we need to wait for Apple’s official introduction to be definitive in this section. Apple is expected to offer these tools with iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. WWDC 2026 will be held between June 8-12, and the clearest picture of the company’s new software versions will emerge here.
