Pistachios and Baklava Price Increases!

The prices of pistachios, one of the most important agricultural products in terms of production and consumption in Turkey, continue to rise. Experts state that pistachios have entered a period known as the “dead year”, and that in such years the productivity of pistachio trees decreases and, accordingly, production drops significantly. Producers say that they do not expect prices to decline in the short term due to increased costs and decreased supply, on the contrary, a new wave of price increases may occur in the market. However, both the military tension in the Middle East and production fluctuations due to climate change negatively affect the production and price stability of pistachios. For this reason, it is stated that the price increases are not only a temporary fluctuation but are also closely related to production conditions. Experts state that the course of prices in the coming period will largely depend on weather conditions and yield.
