With Samsung’s new One UI updates, the video filter option in the Camera application no longer appears on some Galaxy models. According to user reports, the filter tool in video mode has been removed after One UI 8.5. The same situation is seen in the One UI 9 beta version. While filters continue to be used in photo mode, the opportunity to directly select filters during video recording is no longer available in the Camera interface.
After the One UI update, the video filter option disappeared on Galaxy phones. Samsung’s latest One UI updates brought a remarkable change in the Camera application. The filter option, which was previously included in the video mode, no longer appears on some Galaxy phones that received the One UI 8.5 update. According to users, the feature could be used directly in the video interface of the Camera application before the update.
After the update, there is no filter icon in the same section. Filters could previously be used in 1080p video shooting. The option was not visible in 4K footage anyway; However, with the new update, the filter option has been removed for 1080p 30 FPS and 1080p 60 FPS video shooting. Android Authority reports that there is no filter option in video mode in its check on the Galaxy S26 Ultra with One UI 9 beta installed.
The change only covers the video side. The filter option still appears in photo mode. Users can still apply filters while taking photos, but cannot directly select the same filters before shooting in video mode. For this reason, after the update, there was a difference in filter support between photo and video modes in the Camera application. There is no official statement on the Samsung side as to whether this change is a deliberate removal or a software error.
Android Authority states that it has reached out to Samsung regarding the issue and will update its news if it receives a response. The fact that the same situation is seen in the One UI 9 beta version reveals that the feature is not specific to only one stable version. Two temporary methods stand out for those who want to use the video filter. In the first method, users can select the filter in photo mode and start video recording by pressing and holding the shutter button.
In the second method, after the video is shot, filters can be applied via Samsung’s built-in Gallery application. However, user reports indicate that editing via the Gallery may cause compression in the video. Other user complaints regarding the latest One UI updates have also come to the fore.
