Steam Controller sold out before it went on sale in Turkey

Valve’s new Steam Controller model was in great demand as soon as it went on sale. The $99 controller went out of stock in about half an hour during the first wave of sales. While Turkey was not among the official sales regions, some people who purchased the product quickly transferred the controller to resale platforms at prices of $ 250 and above. Steam Controller went into a stock crisis before it went on sale in Turkey.

Valve launched the new Steam Controller model on the Steam Store on May 4, 2026. The US price of the controller is set at $99. Pricing was set at 99 euros in Europe, 85 pounds in the United Kingdom, and 149 Australian dollars in Australia. With the start of the sale, the Steam Store became busy and users encountered error messages on the payment screen. In the first minutes, the delivery time was shown as 3-5 business days on the purchase page.

As the density increased, this period increased to 6-10 business days. After about 30 minutes, the product went out of stock. New stock appeared for a short time for some users, but this stock also sold out very quickly. The intensity on the Steam Store side showed that the interest in Valve hardware reached a different level after Steam Deck. The picture is clearer on the Turkish side. The new Steam Controller was not released to Turkey, one of the first official sales regions.

Valve’s new hardware is available in Steam Deck’s current official sales regions: the US, Canada, the UK, the European Union and Australia, as well as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan via Komodo. Since Türkiye is not included in this list, users do not have access to the product through the official Steam Store. After the stocks ran out, the controller soon began to appear on resale platforms such as eBay. Ads starting from $220 for a $99 product were opened.

The controller includes TMR magnetic analog sticks, capacitive touch sensing, two square trackpads, haptic feedback, four assignable rear keys, 6-axis IMU and Grip Sense support. Trackpads offer pressure-sensitive click support. Haptic motors are located on both trackpads and grips. An accessory called Steam Controller Puck is also included in the box. This part is used as both a low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless receiver and a magnetic charging device.

The controller also works wired via USB-C. More than 35 hours of usage time is provided with the 8.39 Wh lithium-ion battery. The body dimensions are 111 x 159 x 57 mm and the weight is 292 grams. The new model is the continuation of the first Steam Controller released in 2015. The first generation model differed from the classic gamepad layout with its dual trackpad-centered structure. The new generation Steam Controller combines analog sticks, trackpads, back buttons and gyro support in the same body.

This structure stands out especially for users who want to play PC games in front of the TV or on the couch with Steam Input profiles. It was also noteworthy that Valve put this controller on sale before Steam Machine and Steam Frame. The company announced its new hardware family with Steam Controller, Steam Machine and Steam Frame. However, supply issues on the memory and storage side affected the Steam Machine and Steam Frame schedule.

Since there is no RAM in the Steam Controller, the product was released to the market earlier. Therefore, the first sales performance of the Steam Controller is not just controller news. It became the first concrete indicator of demand for Valve’s 2026 hardware family. The fact that the product sold out in about half an hour has already revealed that a similar stock pressure may occur when Steam Machine and Steam Frame go on sale.

For users in Turkey, the process is more complicated. Since the product is not available for official sale, the options of shopping abroad, bringing it through an acquaintance or waiting for the second-hand market come to the fore. However, for a 99 dollar controller to rise to the 250-300 dollar range, this increases the cost significantly, especially with the warranty and import uncertainty.
