Surprising Survey Revealed: The Rate of Sacrifices Decreased by 6.6 Percent!

As the Eid al-Adha is coming to an end, research has revealed that the number of people sacrificing animals this year decreased by 6.6 percent compared to last year.

While the economic crisis, high inflation and high cost of living in Turkey deeply affected millions of citizens, citizens were searching for weeks before Eid al-Adha to buy sacrificial animals at affordable prices. However, due to the price of sacrificial animals rising to record levels, citizens started to buy fewer sacrificial animals this year compared to last year. In the survey conducted by Optimar Research Company to determine the families who sacrificed animals in Turkey, it was revealed that the rate of sacrifices decreased by 6.6 percent compared to last year.

According to the results of the company’s “Turkey’s Pulse” research, 46.2 percent of the survey participants stated that their families would sacrifice animals this year, while this rate was measured as 52.8 percent in 2025. CITIZENS DO NOT TRUST ASSOCIATIONS AND FOUNDATIONS. In addition, it was determined that the trust in the institutions, foundations and associations that mediate the sacrifice organizations was at a very low level. Only 14 percent of the participants stated that they trusted these institutions, while 62 percent stated that they did not trust them. AWARENESS OF PRICES HAS DECREASED Awareness of sacrificial prices has also decreased compared to 2025. While 54.5 percent of the participants stated that they were aware of the prices in 2025, this rate dropped to 46.9 percent this year.

It was learned that especially 62.3 percent of the participants between the ages of 25-34 were not aware of the prices of sacrificial animals. The most striking result of the survey was the decrease in the rate of citizens sacrificing animals. Experts attributed this situation to the constant increase in prices due to the economic crisis, high cost of living and high inflation, and the resulting decrease in the purchasing power of citizens.
