ANTALYA (AA) – SÜLEYMAN ELÇİN – Mete Gazoz-Elif Berra Gökkır duo, who won the gold medal in mixed teams at the 2026 Open Air European Archery Championship held in Antalya, wants to turn this success into a “tradition”. At the 2026 Open Air European Archery Championship hosted by Turkey at Antalya 100. Yıl Archery Facilities, Mete Gazoz and Elif Berra Gökkır, who were at the top of the podium, made evaluations to the AA reporter.
Olympic, world and European champion national archer Gazoz said that the tournament went well for him. Stating that they competed for medals in the final field in all categories, Gazoz said that he was happy to become the champion in the mixed team. Gazoz reminded that she received a bronze medal in the classical bow, like Elif Berra Gökkır. – “We became a good duo with Elif Berra.” Stating that they had the chance to see their performance before the Mediterranean Games, Gazoz said, “It could have been better, but we are happy with the results.
I am happy.” he said. Stating that he will do everything he can to be better at the next European Championship, Gazoz said, “We became a good duo with Elif Berra. She is a very good athlete. Although she is very young, she is a successful athlete.” We have great confidence at the firing line and in each other. I trust him 100 percent, and so does he in me. When there is this trust and good communication between us, the results are inevitable.
I am very hopeful for both Elif Berra and our mixed team. A great future awaits our mixed team. “I would like to be on the field with him as long as my career allows.” he said. – “I am proud to receive the gold medal in the mixed teams” Elif Berra Gökkır, the 19-year-old athlete of the national archery team, also said that the championship went well for her and that she received her first individual European Championship medal among adults and that she was very happy about it.
Stating that there will be many European Championships ahead of him and that he wants to win the gold medal individually, Gökkır said, “I am proud to receive the gold medal in the mixed teams. I missed an important step in my career. “It was an important boost of self-confidence for me before the World Championships and the Olympics.” he said.
