FREETOWN (AA) – ABDULLAH SÖYLEMEZ – Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV) will deliver 7 thousand shares of sacrificed meat to families in need in Sierra Leone this year within the scope of the “Sacrifice by Proxy Program”. Within the scope of the “2026 Sacrifice Organization by Proxy” carried out jointly by the Presidency of Religious Affairs and TDV, volunteers from Turkey as well as France started their work in the West African country Sierra Leone.

Within the scope of the organization, it is planned to slaughter sacrificial cattle in a total of 6 locations in the country’s capital, Freetown, and other cities. Having completed their preparations in the slaughter areas, the teams work under the supervision of a veterinarian to determine the animals that meet the conditions. The teams, which will distribute 1000 cattle sacrificed meat to be slaughtered during Eid al-Adha to families in need, distributed balloons, chocolates, football balls and various gifts to children in the regions they visited.

TDV officer Mustafa Açılkan told the AA correspondent that the sacrificial relics received through proxy will contribute to the strengthening of the bond of brotherhood between the two countries. Explaining that they checked whether the sacrificial animals were in compliance with Islamic procedures with foundation officials, volunteers and veterinarians, Açılkan said, “A total of 1000 cattle are planned to be slaughtered in 6 regions in Sierra Leone.

The slaughtered sacrificial animals will be distributed to orphanages and those in need.” he said. Açılkan explained that the Turkish Religious Foundation organizes sacrifice organizations through proxy in 81 provinces of Turkey and 84 countries. Stating that they act with the motto “Believers are only brothers”, Açılkan said, “We would like to thank our donors from Turkey, Europe and all over the world who donated their trusts to our Turkish Religious Foundation, and wish them a happy holiday.” he said.

Veterinarian Ebubekir Atalay also stated that he checked the animals’ preliminary health examination, age and suitability criteria.
