Telegram has relaunched its official app for Wear OS. The application can currently be installed on Galaxy Watch and other Wear OS watches by users registered in the Telegram beta program in the Google Play Store. Users registered in the Telegram beta program can directly install the application on eligible Wear OS watches. Telegram’s Wear OS application was previously available on Android Wear and Wear OS devices. When Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic were among the first Samsung watches to come with Wear OS, Telegram could also be installed on these devices. However, Telegram removed Wear OS support in 2021. Following this decision, users were able to follow Telegram messages on their watches only through notifications and quick replies.
The new application offers the official Telegram experience that runs directly on the watch instead of a simple notification add-on. The interface is close to the Telegram design in the phone application. Chat backgrounds on the connected phone are moved to the watch application, and the interface is organized according to the round screens of Wear OS. In addition to individual chats, groups and communities are also supported in the watch application.
In large group conversations, messages are displayed with a layered card structure. This structure makes it easy to follow long conversations on the small screen. There is also an “Open on Phone” shortcut in chat windows. Users can open the conversation on the connected phone with this button. Telegram’s new Wear OS application also closes an important deficiency for Galaxy Watch models. WhatsApp support has been available on Samsung’s Wear OS-based watches for a while.
On the Telegram side, there was no official and updated clock application. With the new beta version, Galaxy Watch users can access Telegram chats more comprehensively via the watch. Wide distribution has not started since the application is currently only available to users registered in the Telegram beta program. Users who are included in the beta program on Google Play Store can see the option to install the Wear OS version via the Telegram page.
It has not yet been announced when the application will be available for general use for users who are not in the beta program. No large-scale announcement has been made by Telegram. The application was released silently with beta distribution on the Play Store. For this reason, it seems that the current version is in the testing phase and may receive changes in terms of interface, performance or features. New packages for the Telegram Wear OS version were also listed on APKMirror.
These packages include the Wear OS requirement and the version appears to have been installed on May 28, 2026. However, the safest installation way for normal users is to join the Telegram beta program via the Google Play Store and wait for the official distribution. On Telegram’s Play Store page, it can be seen that the application is evaluated in the phone, watch, Chromebook and tablet categories. The main Telegram app has more than 1 billion downloads.
The reappearance of the Wear OS version in the beta channel has relaunched Telegram’s presence on the smartwatch side.
