FromSoftware’s masterpiece, which has become a modern legend by reaching more than 30 million sales in the gaming world, is being adapted to the cinema with the giant cooperation of Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 studios, and the Elden Ring movie, whose release date has been determined, comes to life in the hands of the famous director Alex Garland. Garland, known for cult productions such as “Ex Machina” and “Annihilation”, sits in the writer and director chair to bring the hazy and dangerous atmosphere of The Lands Between to the big screen.
According to the official statement, this epic dark fantasy movie, which will be shot entirely in IMAX format, will meet the audience on March 3, 2028. Star-Full Cast Has Been Announced A large cast consisting of Hollywood’s most talented names has been announced for the production, which will start shooting in the spring of 2026. The film, in which Kit Connor, who rose to fame with the TV series “Heartstopper”, and Cailee Spaeny, who attracted attention with “Alien: Romulus”, will share the leading roles, includes big names such as Ben Whishaw, Tom Burke and the master of cinema Jonathan Pryce.
The full squad is as follows: Kit Connor (Warfare, Heartstopper) Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Paddington) Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus, Civil War) Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Black Bag) Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms) Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina) Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes) Ruby Cruz (Willow, Bottoms) Nick Offerman (The Last of Us) John Hodgkinson Jefferson Hall Emma Laird Peter Serafinowicz This rich cast will bring to life the deep and mysterious characters in the mythology of the game.
Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Elden Ring, which shook the gaming world when Martin’s Legacy was released in 2022, is the game vision of FromSoftware’s genius director Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R., the author of the Song of Ice and Fire series. It was built on the mythological foundations written by Martin. While it is a matter of curiosity how Alex Garland will interpret this rich universe, how the director will handle the play’s famous “feeling of discovery” and “feeling of achieving the impossible” in a cinematic language is already creating great excitement.
A Visual Feast with the IMAX Experience A24 and Bandai Namco aim for the project to be not only an adaptation but also a technical success. Shooting the film directly with IMAX cameras will allow us to see the massive castles, vast steppes and frightening dungeons of the Lands Between in the highest resolution. When Alex Garland’s unique visual style combines with Elden Ring’s gloomy aesthetics, it would not be wrong to say that one of the biggest cinematic events of 2028 awaits us.
