The “Southern Wing of the Alliance on the Axis of the Ankara NATO Summit” panel was held in Italy by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications. According to the statement made by the Presidency, NATO-themed programs are being held by the Directorate of Communications in the capitals of some NATO member countries before the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, which is planned to be held in Ankara on July 7-8.
The first of this series of programs, carried out in cooperation with think tanks in the countries in question, was held in Madrid on 3-4 March, the second in Paris on 11 March, the third in London on 18-19 March, the fourth in Warsaw on 11 May and the fifth in Washington on 14 May. The sixth of the program series was held today in Rome in cooperation with The Istituto Affari Internazionali (I.A.I). Maria Luisa Fantappie and I.A.I Defense, Security and Space Program President Dr. In the program undertaken by Alessandro Marrone, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Chief Advisor to the President and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Security and Foreign Policies Board Ambassador Prof. Dr. Çağrı Erhan and Presidential Security and Foreign Policies Board Member Prof.
Dr. Kılıç Buğra Kanat made evaluations as a speaker. The panel discussed the changes in the international system and the difficulties encountered before the Ankara Summit, NATO’s stance during the Ukrainian War and the current situation on its southern flank, the future of NATO, Security Action for Europe (SAFE), the latest situation in Palestine and Iran, and other regional developments. Turkey’s Ambassador to Rome Elif Çomoğlu Ülger, Turkey’s Ambassador to the Vatican Fahrettin Altun, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the Vatican İlqar Muxtarov and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Rome Rashad Aslanov and many guests attended the program.
