An armed attack was carried out yesterday at around 16:00 on Mayor Alim Karaca by an unidentified person or persons in Akaca District of Muğla’s Fethiye district. While Karaca was injured in his left leg in the attack, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notice from surrounding citizens. It was stated that Karaca, who was taken to the hospital by medical teams, continues his treatment and is in good health.
While police teams took extensive security measures at the scene, a comprehensive investigation was launched to catch the person or persons who carried out the attack. GOVERNORSHIP MADE A STATEMENT While a total of four suspects, including the suspect who was considered to have carried out the attack, were detained within the scope of the investigation, Muğla Governorship also made a statement on the subject. Procedures regarding the detained suspects are continuing and further information will be provided regarding the developments.” On the other hand, Çiğdem Karaca, wife of Fethiye Mayor Karaca, also made a statement in front of the hospital where her husband was treated. Çiğdem Karaca stated that she noticed a person wearing a mask and gloves in front of their house and said, “Today, we went to the police station and reported the situation.
When we returned home, we went out with my wife and son. At that time, we saw the suspect in the vehicle and stopped him and informed the police. My wife asked the suspect who he was and why he was wearing a mask. The suspect said that he was wearing a mask because he had a fungal disease on his face. When my wife continued to ask questions, he tried to escape. During the fight, the suspect took out his gun and pointed it at my wife’s heart.
The bullet fired during the fight hit my wife’s leg. “We experienced great fear, we are sorry.” he said. STATEMENT FROM THE DOCTORS: “THE CONDITION IS GOOD” Making a statement regarding the health condition of Mayor Karaca, Operator Doctor Osman Kurtuluş and Orthopedic Specialist Operator Doctor Mustafa Eroğlu stated that Karaca’s general health condition is good. Doctors stated that the bullet damaged the bone in his kneecap and caused a small fracture.
It was also stated that Karaca will be treated with antibiotics for a few days, the bullet in his leg will be removed and the fracture will be treated with the surgery to be performed on Tuesday. Police teams reported that the investigation into the incident is continuing.
