ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s Ambassador to Baghdad Anıl Bora İnan visited the Iraqi city of Kirkuk and met with Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) officials and politicians and representatives of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF). In his statement to the AA correspondent, Ambassador İnan stated that he was happy to be in Erbil again after a long break and said that they made the official visit today due to holidays, different reasons and the war.
Stating that he met with Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) officials and politicians, İnan stated that he met with KRG President Nechirvan Barzani, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Massoud Barzani. İnan also visited the Erbil Provincial Presidency of the Iraqi Turkmen Front and met with Aydın Maruf, Minister of Ethnic and Religious Formations of the KRG and Member of the Executive Board of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITC).
– We want the ITF to receive a ministry representing the Turkmens in the government. İnan, who met with the organization employees of the ITF in Erbil, said regarding the content of the meeting: “We listened to their problems, their expectations, their expectations from their relations with the Republic of Türkiye and its institutions. Of course, we discussed the political situation in the region. “We listened to the work of the Turkmen Front.” he said.
İnan stated that efforts to form a government in Baghdad are continuing and said, “Our contacts are also continuing. There, we, as the Republic of Türkiye, defend and want the Iraqi Turkmen Front to receive a ministry representing the Turkmens. Frankly, we think that this is the right of Turkmens anyway.” he said. Stating that the Turkmen community is one of the founding elements of Iraq, İnan said about the appointment of a Turkmen governor to Kirkuk: “We offered our congratulations on the acquisition of the governorship of Kirkuk.” he said.
– We attach great importance to our relations with Iraq. İnan stated that they are trying to carry Türkiye-Iraq relations to the whole of Iraq with a more institutional framework and said, “Of course, we attach great importance to our relations with Iraq. There are security, trade, defense industry, kinship relations and social relations in every field. “These take us to a certain point.” made his assessment. Stating that he will also meet with officials of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, İnan noted that he will also meet with trade and industry circles tomorrow.
KRG Minister Responsible for Ethnic and Religious Formations Maruf also stated that Ambassador İnan’s visit is important for Erbil-Ankara relations and that it is also a source of morale for the Turkmens. Emphasizing that the presence of Turkmens in the region is important, Maruf said, “The stronger this presence becomes and the more active it becomes, the more important it is for the Turkish world and the region.” he said.
