Xiaomi’s experimental flagship series MIX is on the agenda again after a long break. The Hongkong code name and Q5 internal model number seen in Mi Code indicate that Xiaomi MIX 5 is in the development process. Xiaomi MIX 5 came to the fore with the code name Q5 in Mi Code. The Xiaomi MIX series stands apart from the standard flagships of the brand. This series has so far been associated with more experimental technologies such as frameless screen designs, sliding camera structure, ceramic body and under-screen camera.
For this reason, the new Mi Code records, which are stated to belong to MIX 5, are seen not only as a new phone leak, but as Xiaomi’s preparation to bring the main MIX series to the stage again. According to the information revealed, the code name of the device is Hongkong and the internal model number is Q5. In Xiaomi’s internal model naming system, the letter part describes the generation and the number part tells the position in the device family.
It is stated that the letter Q represents the 2026 release cycle, and the code Q5 refers to the main MIX family. The same records also include information that the device will come with HyperOS 4 out of the box. The striking aspect of the leak is that the Q5 number reinforces the MIX 5 name. Previously, the codes D5 and D5X were used for MIX 2 and MIX 2S, and E5 and E5G for MIX 3 and MIX 3 5G. Although the K8 code stands out on the MIX 4 side, it is stated that Xiaomi has recently shifted the 8 suffix to the Flip family.
For this reason, the code Q5 points to Xiaomi MIX 5 as the new main model of the MIX series. Another detail is that the device is codenamed “Hongkong”. According to the leak, this codename is associated with high-level and high-priority projects within Xiaomi. This information strengthens the claim that MIX 5 is not an ordinary product renewal, but a special model carrying the brand’s showcase technologies. The under-screen camera is at the center of the technical topics discussed for Xiaomi MIX 5.
MIX 4 was one of Xiaomi’s most notable models using under-screen camera technology. It is reported that the new model will use advanced UDC, that is, Under-Display Camera technology, for a hole-free and uninterrupted screen experience. In previous reports, it was claimed that Xiaomi’s new generation under-screen camera technology has reached a level ready for mass production. One of the most important details in the Xiaomi MIX 5 leak is global market information. MIX 4 was introduced for the Chinese market in 2021 and was not widely opened to the global market. According to new records, MIX 5 may be the main MIX model coming out of China. It is stated in the leak that the device is being prepared for the global market and India, and that there is no clear plan for Japan at this stage. If this information turns out to be true, Xiaomi MIX 5 will be the first main MIX model to come to the global market after many years.
Aside from Xiaomi’s foldable MIX Fold series and products specific to different markets, the main MIX line has not been accessible to international users for a long time.
