The countdown has officially begun for the 2026 Hugo Awards, which are considered the most prestigious honor of the world science fiction community and crown the best works in a wide range of fields from literature to cinema every year. Organizers of LAcon V, the 84th World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon), announced this year’s finalists and shared the highly anticipated list with the public. During the voting process with the participation of 2025 and 2026 WorldCon members, a total of 23,543 nomination applications were made for 4,299 different works and people.
The Awards Ceremony will take place in California. The final voting will open in May, and LAcon V members will vote to determine the winners in 21 different categories. This magnificent meeting of the worlds of science fiction and fantasy will culminate in a special ceremony to be held in Anaheim, California on August 30, 2026. This year’s list once again proves how dynamic the genre is by bringing together both the masters of the genre and the shining new talents.
