He Killed 6 People in Mersin: He Committed Suicide When He Realized He Would Be Caught!

In the blood-curdling incident in Mersin, 37-year-old Metin Ö. killed 6 people, including his ex-wife, and injured 8 people in armed attacks in different parts of the city. According to the information obtained, the attacker first shot and killed his ex-wife Arzu Özden, who was walking on the street in Darıpınarı District of Çamlıyayla district. Then, the suspect, who drove away from the area, went to a restaurant in Kadelli District of Tarsus district and opened fire at the workplace from inside the car.

Restaurant owner Sabri Pan and his employee Ahmet Arcan lost their lives in the attack. HE OPENED RANDOM FIRE The attacker, who continued to run away, then continued to open fire randomly in various neighborhoods. 16-year-old Yusuf Oktay, who was grazing animals in Kaburgeiyorum District, Abdullah Koca in Yeniköy District, and truck driver Gökay Selfeoğlu, who was at a gas station, lost their lives as a result of the attacks.

8 people who were on the attacker’s route during the incident were also injured. While the injured were being treated in surrounding hospitals, it was learned that some of them were in serious condition. While eyewitnesses stated that what happened created great fear, an employee who was injured in the restaurant stated that the attacker took out his gun and opened fire randomly, without saying anything. STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNORSHIP Following the incident, gendarmerie and police teams launched a large-scale operation.

It was stated that the car used by the suspect was found in a rural area, and the attacker was considered to have fled to the forest area. While security forces carried out search operations with helicopter and drone support, checkpoints were also established on the highways. In the governor’s statement, it was stated that the suspect had previous records of substance abuse and psychological disorders. As a result of the work carried out, the house where the attacker was hiding was identified.

It was learned that Metin Ö. committed suicide with the gun next to him when he realized that he would be caught during the operation carried out by the security forces. On the other hand, the bodies of those who lost their lives were taken to the morgue of Tarsus State Hospital.
