ANKARA (AA) – The elderly staying at Demetevler Fatma Üçer Nursing Home in Ankara shared the joy of the holiday with each other and their relatives who came to visit. In the celebration program organized by the nursing home on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the residents of the nursing home celebrated each other and came together with their relatives and guests who came to visit. Sabiha-Turap Sönmez couple, who met in the nursing home and have been married for about 10 years, also experienced the joy of the holiday together.
Sabiha Sönmez stated that she was left alone after losing her son and daughter years ago, and after living in different cities for a while, she settled in a nursing home. Stating that he and his wife Turap Sönmez met in the nursing home, Sönmez said, “I was sitting in the gazebo there. While we were chatting, he wanted to take me to eat pita. Then he became an applicant. he said. Stating that they live a happy life with his wife, Sönmez said, “My husband is a very good person.
If I want something, it won’t be worth twice. He doesn’t eat himself, he feeds me. After I became my wife, every day is a holiday for me. he said. Turap Sönmez said that they were not left alone in the nursing home and that many visitors came during the holiday. When my wife is with me, every day feels like a holiday. he said. – We are never alone. 94-year-old Memduha Kekeç, a nursing home resident, said that she struggled for life alone after her husband, a police officer, was martyred at a young age. Stating that her son was only 1.5 years old when she lost her husband, Kekeç said that she raised her son by sewing outside and sent him to school. Kekeç stated that he could not always be with his family during holidays due to their duties, and that they were not left alone in the nursing home.
Explaining that many people, from students to associations, visited the nursing home during the holiday, Memduha Kekeç said, “It is going very well.” People come and go, we are never alone.
