Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır; HAB stated that they will open a specific window for SMEs in the ecosystem of Saha Istanbul, Turkish Technic, TÜRKSAT AŞ, Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, Turkish Space Agency and the Presidency of Defense Industries, and that they will give priority to SMEs that carry out the projects of these main institutions or are their suppliers, and increase the loan amount for the companies they will support from 20 million lira to 30 million lira.
SAHA 2026 International Defense, Aerospace Industry Fair is being held at Istanbul Expo Center with the organization of SAHA Istanbul, the largest defense, aviation and space industry cluster of Türkiye and Europe. At the fair, where Anadolu Agency (AA) is the Global Communication Partner, the Financing Support Signing Ceremony for SMEs in the Defense, Space and Aviation Industry was held with the participation of Kacır and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
In his speech here, Minister Kacır pointed out that, thanks to the strong will of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Turkey is one of the 11 countries in the world that can develop and produce its own communication satellite with Türksat 6A. Stating that he believes that they will take this local and national capability to higher levels by joining hands and forces with institutions with national technology in the Türksat 7A Project, Kacır said: “Everyone who visits the SAHA Expo area observes this truth.
The trademark of the Turkish defense industry is that it has built a large ecosystem. Now, we have institutions around the world that we can describe as defense industry giants on a global scale. Today, ASELSAN is Turkey’s most valuable company. ASELSAN has a company value of nearly 40 billion dollars. We have giant institutions such as TUSAŞ, ROKETSAN, Baykar and MKE on a global scale in the defense industry, but the defense industry is not just about these large institutions.
“We are talking about nearly 4 thousand SMEs, technology startups, universities, research centers and institutes clustered around them, in short, a huge ecosystem with common innovation and production intelligence in a distributed neural network.” Stating that strengthening this ecosystem provides Turkey with world-class platforms and systems, Kacır said that the signatures signed and the projects to be implemented will carry Turkey to much further goals.
The loan amount will be increased to 30 million lira. Kacır stated that with the signatures signed today, KOSGEB’s capacity development program will provide stronger support for the defense, aviation and space sector in the coming period. Underlining that they provide financial support of up to 20 million lira, with a grace period of 6 months, a maturity of 36 months, and 20 points for the loans they use to SMEs carrying out projects aimed at capacity development, Kacır said: “We will strengthen this program with a special window focusing on defence, aviation and space.
In this program, we will open a specific window for SMEs in the ecosystem of our stakeholder institutions, HAB, Saha Istanbul, Turkish Technic, TÜRKSAT, our Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, Turkish Space Agency and the Presidency of Defense Industries. “We will especially give priority to SMEs that carry out the projects of these main institutions or are suppliers, and we will increase the loan amount for our SMEs that we will support within the scope of this program from 20 million lira to 30 million lira.” Source: AA
