Apple is expected to add new artificial intelligence features to the two most used built-in applications of the iPhone with iOS 27. While a new Siri mode that highlights visual intelligence is coming to the Camera application, three new AI tools are on the agenda for image editing in the Photos application. Apple will hold the WWDC26 event between June 8-12, 2026. Therefore, the countdown has begun for the first official presentation of iOS 27.
iOS 27 will make artificial intelligence more visible in the Camera and Photos applications. The first innovation that stands out on the iOS 27 side is related to the Camera application. According to information, Apple will add a new “Siri” mode to the iPhone’s built-in Camera application. This mode; It will come alongside existing camera modes such as Photo, Video, Portrait and Pano, and will bring Apple’s visual intelligence features directly into the Camera application.
Apple’s visual intelligence feature currently has a separate usage area in iOS. Users can access this feature by long-pressing Camera Control on iPhone, via a shortcut added to Control Center, or via the Lock Screen. With iOS 27, this experience is expected to be connected more directly to the Camera app’s own interface. Thus, when the user turns on the camera, he will not be limited to just taking photos or videos; It will also be able to receive artificial intelligence-supported information about the object, text or content it sees.
Two practical usage areas of the new Siri mode are also on the agenda. The first of these is about nutrition labels. Users will be able to scan a product’s nutritional values label via the new mode in the Camera application and save this information more quickly in Apple’s Health application. The second innovation will be business card scanning support. The information on the business card scanned through the camera can be transferred to the Contacts application.
The other application expected to change with iOS 27 will be Photos. Apple is expected to add three new artificial intelligence-supported editing tools to the Photos application. These tools are called Extend, Enhance and Reframe. Extend will be used to produce new image content outside the existing frame of a photo. For example, the landscape around a building taken close-up can be expanded with the help of artificial intelligence.
The Enhance tool will automatically improve color, light and overall image quality in photographs. Reframe stands out as an editing tool developed especially for spatial photographs. This feature will allow changes to perspective after the shot is taken. For example, the frame visible from the front in a car photo can be rearranged to emphasize the side more. These new tools will come next to the Cleanup feature added to the Photos application with iOS 18.
Cleanup was one of Apple’s artificial intelligence steps in the image editing side, with the function of cleaning unwanted objects in photos. It is expected that the artificial intelligence editing options in the Photos application will spread to a wider area with the Extend, Enhance and Reframe tools that came to the fore in iOS 27. The information also states that these features are expected to work with a new extension of Apple Foundation Models based on Google Gemini.
Innovations that will improve the Collections section for the Photos application are also mentioned. However, details about this episode have not been shared yet. Therefore, it will become clear in the official launch whether the Photos application will change only with editing tools in iOS 27 or whether it will receive a broader innovation package on the archiving and collection management side.
