The General Directorate of Meteorology published the weather assessment dated May 21, 2026. According to the report, partly and very cloudy weather will continue to affect Turkey across Türkiye. While showers and thunderstorms are expected in many regions, a heavy rain warning has been issued for some provinces. In the statement made by the authorities, it was stated that the rain is expected to increase its effect in places in the provinces of the Marmara Region except Edirne, Çanakkale and Balıkesir.
Heavy showers were also predicted in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea Region, the west of Southeastern Anatolia and around Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş, Niğde, Kayseri, Tokat, Kars, Ardahan and Hakkari. Meteorology; A yellow code warning was issued for Hakkari, Van, Şırnak and Hatay. In the statement, it was stated that one should be careful against sudden floods, transportation disruptions and short-term strong winds.
While intermittent showers are expected throughout the day in Istanbul, it was stated that the rains may be locally heavy in the morning and noon. Effective rainfall forecasts were also shared in Sakarya, Kırklareli and Düzce during the day. Region by Region Weather: There will be showers starting from noon in Izmir and Muğla in the Aegean Region. In the Mediterranean, it is estimated that rainfall will increase in the northern and eastern districts of Adana and the surroundings of Osmaniye and Kahramanmaraş.
While intermittent rain is expected in Ankara, Konya and Eskişehir in Central Anatolia, the possibility of heavy showers at noon stands out around Kayseri and Niğde. It was reported that rainfall will intensify in places around Kars, Ardahan and Hakkari in the Eastern Anatolia Region. In Southeastern Anatolia, showers are expected to be effective throughout the day in Diyarbakır, Mardin, Siirt and Şanlıurfa. According to meteorological data, temperatures will increase by 3 to 5 degrees in the Mediterranean and Central Anatolia.
It is estimated that temperatures will drop a few degrees in the Eastern Black Sea and Southeastern Anatolia. Experts asked citizens living in regions where heavy rainfall is expected to follow current meteorological announcements.
