Core 5 320, from the Wildcat Lake family prepared by Intel for affordable laptops, appeared with its first independent benchmark results. According to PassMark data, the new 6-core processor approaches the same level as the Apple A18 Pro in single-core performance, while achieving a 27 percent difference on the multi-core side. Although the Core 5 320 is one of the entry-level models on the Wildcat Lake side, it draws a remarkable picture, especially for daily use-oriented laptops.
The processor stands out as one of the solutions that Intel has positioned against Apple’s MacBook Neo move in the budget-friendly laptop segment. Intel Core 5 320 gave strong results in PassMark tests with 6 cores. Intel Core 5 320 is listed as a 6-core and 6-thread processor based on Wildcat Lake architecture. There are only two performance cores in this structure. While the performance cores of the processor reach 4.6 GHz, the efficiency cores run at the highest speed of 3.4 GHz.
In the PassMark single-core test, the Core 5 320 scored 4047 points. This result indicates almost the same level as the Apple A18 Pro. It can be seen that the A18 Pro is included in the same table with 4066 points. Apple A19 Pro clearly stands out on the single-core side with 5177 points. On the multi-core side, the table changes in favor of Intel. The Core 5 320 reaches 15,222 points in the CPU Mark test. It is seen that the Apple A18 Pro remained at 11,993 points in the same comparison.
This result shows that Intel’s new Wildcat Lake processor scores approximately 27 percent higher in multi-core performance compared to the Apple A18 Pro. There is a different balance in comparison with the Apple A19 Pro. A19 Pro is approximately 28 percent ahead of the Core 5 320 in single core. However, in the multi-core test, the Intel Core 5 320 narrowly surpasses the A19 Pro’s CPU Mark result of 14,838 points. There are also remarkable results when comparing the Core 5 320 with existing Intel and AMD solutions.
The processor surpasses the Intel Core Ultra 5 236V “Lunar Lake” and AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 “Strix Point” models in the single-core test. While Core Ultra 5 236V scores 3903 in single core, Ryzen AI 5 340’s score is at 3705. On the multi-core side, Core Ultra 5 236V and Ryzen AI 5 340 are ahead of Core 5 320 thanks to their structural advantages. Intel Core Ultra 5 236V reaches 18,390 CPU Mark points with its 8-core structure.
AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 gets 19,645 points with 6 cores and 12 threads. On the other hand, the fact that the Core 5 320 reached over 15 thousand points with 6 cores and 6 threads is an important result considering its entry-level position. On the graphics side, Wildcat Lake’s integrated GPU structure was also one of the highlights. Core 5 320 has only 2 Xe3 cores. Despite this, the performance drop does not seem to be as drastic as the difference in core count compared to existing Arc solutions.
Although it has only a quarter of the core compared to the 8 The 3D Graphics Mark result shown on the integrated graphics side of Wildcat Lake is at 2746. This table indicates a stronger than expected integrated graphics performance despite the limited GPU configuration used in an entry-level processor. Intel Core 5 320 is one of the entry-level models of the Wildcat Lake “Core Series 3” family. Therefore, stronger results are expected with higher CPU and GPU clock speeds in higher-end Wildcat Lake options.
In particular, how manufacturers will bring this platform to laptops will make pricing as important as performance. The Wildcat Lake reference design that Intel recently showed completes this picture. The reference device, prepared with an aluminum body, different color options and sufficient hardware for daily use, shows that Wildcat Lake will be more visible, especially in the affordable laptop segment. Until Apple launches its A19 chip update on the MacBook Neo side, Wildcat Lake stands out as a strong alternative in the entry-level laptop market.
The first PassMark results of the Core 5 320 show that Intel wants to compete in low-cost systems not only with price, but also with single-core performance and efficient integrated graphics structure.
