A funeral ceremony was held at Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Beşiktaş for Reha Muhtar, who had been treated for heart failure for a while in Muğla’s Bodrum district and died yesterday. Mukhtar’s family, loved ones, former colleagues, media representatives, some artists and citizens attended the ceremony.

A Beşiktaş jersey was laid on Mukhtar’s coffin and his photo was placed in front of it. At the funeral, Muhtar’s adopted daughter Ayşe Nazlı Yumlu and her children Poyraz and Mina accepted their condolences. After the funeral prayer performed following the afternoon prayer, Mukhtar’s body was taken to Yeniköy Cemetery. Mukhtar’s body was buried here. Journalist Uğur Dündar, one of the people who attended the funeral, said in his statement to members of the press that they were reporting at the same time with Reha Muhtar, Mehmet Ali Birand and Ali Kırca, and that although there was a serious competition between them for ratings, they never acted to hurt each other.

Dündar explained that they did not meet much with Reha Muhtar after she left active journalism, and that he took care of Muhtar when she fell down the stairs of her house in 2024.
