Leonardo DRS introduced its new sea-based system designed to detect and neutralize airborne unmanned aerial vehicle threats at sea. The system works by integrating the Maritime Mission Equipment Package into an autonomous unmanned surface vehicle. Thanks to this integration, the system; It offers detection, tracking, diagnosis and intervention capabilities against unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the company, this solution is designed to be quickly integrated into both manned and unmanned platforms.
System; It aims to provide protection for ships, ports and coastal infrastructures. Package; It combines marine radar, electro-optical and infrared (sensors) with networking and command-control functions. The entire system is supported by the SAGEcore software platform for data fusion and analysis. Company officials stated that the system aims to address the increasing risks arising from various unmanned aerial threats, from small commercial unmanned aerial vehicles to more advanced systems.
The system, which was developed to be adaptable to different ship types, was especially designed to be used on unmanned surface vehicles. The company emphasized that combining detection and intervention functions in a single system will also reduce deployment time. Leonardo DRS stated that it will demonstrate this capability integrated on the Sea Machines STORMRUNNER autonomous unmanned surface vehicle within the scope of the Navy League Sea-Air-Space Symposium.
