ISTANBUL (AA) – As part of the 573rd anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul, the 1st Army Command Band gave a concert in Üsküdar. In the program held on the beach by the Governorship of Istanbul, various anthems and popular works were performed by the 1st Army Command Band. The fireworks show on the beach after the concert was recorded by citizens with their mobile phone cameras. Speaking at the event, Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül said, “Today, we will end the day with you, with the concert of our 1st Army Command’s band, and then with our fireworks.” he said.
Gül stated that an era ended with the conquest and a new one opened, and noted that the reason for this was the management approach of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror. Stating that there was intense participation in the events within the scope of the “Year of the Family”, Gül said, “We see events here where we experience the joy of family conquest together with children, mothers, fathers and grandfathers.” he said. Governor Gül stated that the drone show planned within the scope of the event could not be realized due to technical problems and said, “We were going to show you the process from the beginning of the conquest to the reopening of Hagia Sophia with 1200 drones.
In short, the drones were evil. Our drones did not work. There was a magnetic problem. Hopefully, we will bring together the preparations we have made with the people of Istanbul again in the future.” he said. The program ended after the fireworks show.
