Huawei introduced its new high-end tablet, MatePad Pro Max. The model, which comes with a 13.2-inch OLED PaperMatte screen, 4.7 mm thinness, 499 grams body, 144 Hz refresh rate and PC-level productivity applications, is positioned directly against the iPad Pro in the large-screen tablet market. Huawei MatePad Pro Max draws attention with its 4.7 mm thinness. Huawei MatePad Pro Max was one of the new products introduced within the scope of the company’s launch in Bangkok.

The tablet stands out especially with its thin body. The thickness of MatePad Pro Max at its thinnest point is 4.7 mm. This is below the 13-inch iPad Pro M5, which has a thickness of 5.1 mm. In Huawei’s 13.2-inch standard MatePad Pro model, the thickness was 5.5 mm. The weight of the device is 499 grams in the standard version and 509 grams in the PaperMatte Edition version. Metal structure is used in the body. Huawei states that it offers a thin and monolithic design in the new model with the structure it calls Cloud Falcon Architecture.

The tablet is also highlighted as the first model to receive TÜV Rheinland Ultra-thin Bending Resistance Certification. The screen side of the MatePad Pro Max has a 13.2-inch flexible OLED PaperMatte panel. The screen offers 3000 × 2000 pixel resolution, 273 ppi pixel density, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 1600 nits peak brightness value. The refresh rate of the panel goes up to 144 Hz. While the screen-to-body ratio is announced as 94 percent, the frame thickness is 3.55 mm.

Huawei used a screen structure with no notch or camera cutout in this model. PaperMatte screen comes with a nano-level processing technique that reduces reflection and glare. The company positions this panel for a more comfortable viewing experience in long-term use. However, PaperMatte Display support is only available in the MatePad Pro Max PaperMatte Edition version. One of the important differences on the screen side is that the panel is not tandem OLED.

A tandem OLED screen was used in the previously reviewed 12.2-inch MatePad Pro model. MatePad Pro Max, on the other hand, appears as a model that focuses on a larger screen and thinner body. On the multitasking side, the tablet can keep three windows open at the same time. Huawei offers this feature under the name Live-Multitask. This structure provides a wider working area for operations such as document editing, file comparison, note taking and content production.

The device also has WPS Office support at the PC level. This experience offers a closer desktop use with Huawei Glide Keyboard. MatePad Pro Max also comes with HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro support. The pen does not come standard in the box and needs to be purchased separately. Huawei’s GoPaint application is one of the highlighted software parts of the device for drawing and creative works. The HUAWEI Notes application also includes features such as importing documents and presentations, converting handwritten equations into results, and artificial intelligence-supported handwriting improvement.

The availability of these features may vary depending on the application version and region. On the hardware side, the tablet comes with 12 GB RAM. Storage options are listed as 256 GB and 512 GB. HarmonyOS 4.3 is used on the operating system side. On the connection side, there is Wi-Fi 7 support, Bluetooth 6.0, NearLink, USB Type-C and USB 3.1. The device also supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS location systems.

On the camera side, there is a camera at the back with 50 MP resolution, f / 1.8 aperture and autofocus support. This camera is accompanied by LED flash and True-to-Colour Camera system. With the rear camera, photos up to 8192 × 6144 pixels and videos up to 3840 × 2160 pixels can be recorded. On the front, there is a fixed focus camera with 12 MP resolution and f / 2.4 aperture. On the battery side, there are different values depending on the region.

Huawei’s technical page lists the typical capacity as 9760 mAh for Europe and 10400 mAh for non-European markets. The nominal capacity is stated as 10300 mAh in the non-European version and 9660 mAh in the European version. The device offers fast charging support up to 66 W. There is also wired reverse charging support up to 40 W. In this way, the tablet can charge compatible devices via cable. On the audio side, a structure with 6 speakers is used.

The Huawei Sound-supported system is designed to offer a more powerful media experience despite its thin body. The device also has 4 microphones. Huawei states that with Smart Antenna 2.0, smart switching can be made between four Wi-Fi 5G antennas and connection performance is increased in weak network conditions. MatePad Pro Max is listed in blue and space gray color options. The blue version has a special back panel effect that changes depending on the light.

The tablet is expected to be offered with accessories such as HUAWEI Glide Keyboard and MatePad Pro Max Folio Cover in some markets. In the European Union, the charging adapter is not included in the box; It is stated that in non-European markets, the HUAWEI SuperCharge adapter may be included in the box content. The starting price for the new tablet is reported as 999.99 pounds. This figure corresponds to approximately $1,362 at the current exchange rate.
