WhatsApp’s paid subscription plan, WhatsApp Plus, has been opened to a limited number of users on iOS. The new plan doesn’t change the core messaging and calling experience; instead, it offers customization features such as a theme, app icon, premium stickers, additional ringtones, and more advanced chat management. What features does WhatsApp Plus offer on iOS? WhatsApp Plus currently appears only to a limited group of users on iOS.
iOS version 26.17.74 of the app is marked as compatible update for this subscription plan. Users can check whether the WhatsApp Plus option is turned on in their accounts through WhatsApp settings. For accounts with options, subscriptions can be started via the official panel. The new subscription plan is prepared for WhatsApp Messenger. WhatsApp Business accounts are not included in this plan. This distinction shows that WhatsApp Plus focuses on personal use, visual customization and chat management rather than business tools.
The standard WhatsApp experience continues the same. Non-subscribed users continue to send messages, make calls and use existing features. The most visible difference of WhatsApp Plus is the option to change the theme of the application. Subscribers can choose from 18 different colors. Vibrant Blue, Royal Purple, Deep Navy, Bright Lavender, Charcoal Grey, Coral Orange, Forest Green, Teal, Burgundy and Earl Brown are among these options.
Sandy Beige, Emerald Green, Bright Yellow, Olive Green, Fuchsia Pink, Crimson Red, Sunset Orange and Golden Yellow are also among the colors offered. The selected accent color is applied throughout the interface and replaces the classic green look. There are also new options on the application icon side. WhatsApp Plus offers 14 different application icons. These icons include designs close to the traditional WhatsApp logo, more ornate looks, sparkling effects, artistic interpretations, light green linear versions and black and white contrast options.
Premium stickers are also one of the highlights of the subscription package. The WhatsApp sticker store has sticker packs with animated overlay effects special for subscribers. It is not mandatory to use these packages, the user can decide which premium packages to download. Users who are not WhatsApp Plus subscribers can see the premium sticker sent by a subscriber in a chat. The animation plays as a temporary layer above the chat interface.
The chat pinning limit also changes with the subscription. Currently, in WhatsApp, users can pin a maximum of 3 conversations to the top of the chat tab. WhatsApp Plus subscribers can keep up to 20 chats on the list. This feature opens up a wider area, especially for users who want to keep frequently used person and group conversations constantly visible. Non-subscribed users continue to manage their chat lists with standard options.
Advanced bulk settings for chat lists are also another part of WhatsApp Plus. Users can simultaneously assign a theme, message alert sound, and call ringtone to a specific chat list. For example, a separate appearance and sound profile can be determined for a list of colleagues. Thus, different talk groups can be arranged on a list basis instead of making individual settings. The subscription plan also brings new ringtone options.
There are 10 new ringtones in WhatsApp Plus named Flutter, Tempo, Ripple, Quest, Drum, Murmur, Flux, Meadow, Bubble and Carnival. These sounds help distinguish incoming WhatsApp calls from calls from other applications more easily. Pricing varies by country. The monthly price for WhatsApp Plus in Europe is 2.49 euros. The monthly price is 229 Pakistani rupees in Pakistan and 29 Mexican pesos per month in Mexico. The subscription works on a monthly renewal model.
Payment is automatically renewed every billing period unless the user cancels. The subscription must be canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. On the iOS side, subscription management can be done via the App Store. A free trial period can also be offered to some users for WhatsApp Plus. This trial period may appear as one month in some cases, and one week in others.
This way, users can test premium features before paying. WhatsApp Plus is not currently available for all iPhone users. Access varies by account and region. Some users who install the latest WhatsApp iOS version from the App Store can see the subscription panel. Since the distribution process progresses gradually, the WhatsApp Plus option may not appear in every account, even if the same version is installed. One of the notable points here is that the name WhatsApp Plus was associated with third-party, unofficial WhatsApp modes in the past.
This new WhatsApp Plus appearing on iOS is the official subscription plan offered in WhatsApp Messenger. Therefore, users do not need to install an external APK, profile or other application.
