Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced that two consecutive earthquakes occurred in Sivrice district of Elazığ. Accordingly, while a 3.6 magnitude earthquake occurred at 04.45 at a depth of 13.76 kilometers underground, another 3.9 magnitude earthquake occurred approximately 4 hours later at 10.37 hours at a depth of 11.7 kilometers underground.
STATEMENT FROM AUTHORITIES
While the consecutive earthquakes caused short-term panic among the citizens in the region, many people took to the streets as a precaution. It was learned that especially the second earthquake was felt in the surrounding districts.
In their statement on the subject, authorities stated that there was no loss of life or property in the two earthquakes that occurred 4 hours apart, and that the teams were prepared for possible new earthquakes.
