BARTIN (AA) – People who came to Amasra district of Bartın, famous for its historical buildings and natural beauties, to spend the Eid al-Adha holiday, were crowded. Amasra, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List in 2015 with its Amasra Castle, is among the places frequented by local and foreign tourists with its untouched bays, clean beaches, low-wavy sea and beauty integrated with nature, as well as its fish-based cuisine culture, and attracts attention during the holidays.

There was a busy day on the second day of the holiday at the beaches in the Büyük and Küçük Liman locations in the district, where there are many artifacts from the Hellenistic, archaic, classical, Roman, Byzantine, Genoese, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. In the district, where the temperature was measured at 25 degrees, holidaymakers spent time in Tow Trucks Bazaar, Grand Port, Amasra Castle, Kemere Bridge and Culture Park, and took many photos on the breakwaters and rocks.

– “Our accommodation facilities are almost full” Amasra Culture and Tourism Association President Melih Saylam told the AA reporter that all the hotels and hostels with a capacity of 3 thousand beds in the district were full and thousands of daily tourists flocked. Stating that they host many visitors from the surrounding provinces, especially Ankara, Saylam said, “Amasra, the closest coast of Ankara, is experiencing serious congestion during this holiday.

The majority of the visitors were from Ankara. With the high temperature, there is also activity and density on the beaches in the Büyük Liman and Küçük Liman areas.” he said. Saylam explained that although they had a problem-free holiday with the precautions, long queues formed especially in fish restaurants. Emphasizing that fish and salad-based culinary culture is effective in hosting daily holidaymakers in all seasons, Saylam said, “The number of daily visitors in Amasra, with a population of 6 thousand, exceeded 100 thousand in the first 5 days of the holiday.

Our accommodation facilities are almost full. This density in our district will continue to increase until the end of the holiday.” he said.
