ADDIS ABABA (AA) – Thousands of Muslims in Ethiopia lined up in the squares and stadiums in the capital Addis Ababa for the Eid prayer. On the first day of Eid al-Adha, thousands of people, from young to old, gathered in different parts of the capital in the early morning hours in Meskel, one of the largest squares of the city, and in other squares surrounding it, and in front of the Addis Ababa Stadium. The Ethiopians, who were body-searched by security guards, then laid the prayers they brought with them on the ground and waited for the prayer time.

Muslims lined up together for the Eid prayer, then raised their hands to the sky and prayed. After the prayer, Muslims celebrated the holiday with enthusiasm. On the other hand, some Turks living in Ethiopia performed the Eid prayer at the Addis Ababa Embassy Religious Services Consultancy. After the prayer, attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Addis Ababa, Berk Baran, a celebration program was held in the consultancy garden.
